1: How does the story of Borneo exemplify the idea of ecosystems and the interaction of organisms (specifically the importance of all organisms in that ecosystem)?
The story of Borneo exemplify the idea of ecosystems and that interaction of organisms is every single animal is serve a purpose, and it also a part of the community. If they killed an animals then % of the animals is loss. And so the animals that eat them will suffer so its all a chain.
2: How does the story exemplify how humans (in our attempt to fix one thing), cause unforeseeable problems in ecosystems?
The story exemplify how humans cause unforeseeable problems in ecosystems is the mospuitoes were now affecting the world. So people was decide to used DDT but it still affected more than the first time. Sometime they never looking back for the more good ideas when they already a ideas.
3: Explain how a toxin in a food web will harm some while killing others- why did the mosquitos and cats die while other things lived? (hint: research bioaccumulation & biomagnification)
A toxin in a food web will harm some while killing other is that the toxin will kill off one specie. Bioaccumulation has stated if affected one organism but their might not be much Biomagnification as in much increase in the correlation between the food chains in that area. The mosquitos and cats die while other things lived because the death of a species need to have food for the next higher.
4: Explain why you think DDT has been banned in the U.S. but is still in production and used in countries all over the world.
I think DDT has been banned in the U.S. but is still in production and used in countries all over the world because the countries have consequences of DDT. It can see it overweighs the risk in the long term.
5: If DDT is still being used around the world, but not in the U.S.- are we still exposed to it? (Discuss).
If DDT is still being used around the world, but not in the U.S. I will still exposed to it because not all the the food is grow in the US it not mean there would be food from other countries of the one who do the DDT.
6: Do you think scientists should have sprayed the island with DDT? If not, what should they have done about the Malaria issue?
No, I didn't think that scientists should have sprayed the island with DDT. The thing that should have done about the Malaria issue is the scientist can destroyed the mosquito breeding grounds preventing Malaria.
